Dark Sedan……..

I spent last weekend birding around the Grenfell area with a good mate, Stuart Harris. We went to some State Forests and the Weddin mountains near Grenfell, NSW where there are an abundance of different birds. Being new to birding I was happy to have someone like Stuart with years of experience show me a bunch of new birds and I saw 25 bird species for the first time (lifers). Stuart has a passion for Jewel beetles so we were hoping to find these as well but unfortunately none were to be found due to the lack of flowering Leptospermum and it may also have been due to the cold November we have had in this part of Australia. We came across a group of researchers studying birds in the area and collecting data on them. There were also some nice reptiles including a blue tongue lizard and Lace Monitor climbing a tree.

You might be wondering why this blog is titled the Dark Sedan so I will reveal that whilst Stuart and I were driving to various locations, we reminisced about the music we would listen to in our younger days and he mentioned a Snakefinger Classic called “The Man in the Dark Sedan”, which was soon to be the theme song for out trip. I took a lot of photos on the weekend but thought I would share the better ones so I hope you enjoy them.
