The Haircut and the Kingfisher
On Sunday I went to get a haircut. Whilst standing in line waiting for the salon to open I was browsing facebook and saw on the Canberra photography Nature group that an Azure Kingfisher was seen the day before with some nice photos included. I hadn’t ever seen one and so after the haircut was done, I went home, got my camera gear and headed to the Cotter reserve to search for the Kingfisher. I was out there fairly quickly and was walking along the rivers edge when I notice a man and his wife on the other side. He was taking photos of something, saw me and pointed in the direction of his photo. There it was, the Azure Kingfisher in all its beauty. A lifer for me and I ended up taking some nice photos and observed this wonderful bird sitting above the water in various locations and occasionally darting to the waters surface to grab something to eat then back on its perch. I would not have seen this bird or gone to the river if I hadn’t been waiting in line for a haircut that morning. I hope you like my shots as much as I do………
